What are THC diamonds?

THC Diamonds, like their name suggests, look a lot like diamonds, as in gems! They are THC crystals made when live resin is extracted from cannabis using a cold-extraction method and pressure. Varying from a grain of sand up to several-gram rocks in size, these diamonds are pure THCa crystals (97-99% THC-A), making them one of the most potent and pure extract products on the market.

Note: THCAs is a non-psychoactive form of THC that needs to be heated up in order to transform into the stuff that gets you high. It converts to THC at a ratio of 87.7%.

Diamonds are sold in a few different formats because their consistency, and potency will vary. This is due to many different factors including original biomass, extraction method, and post processing. The consistency of some diamonds might be saucy, and they are usually referred to as “diamond sauce” while others are sold as “diamonds” because of their drier texture.  In Canada, most are labelled as THC-A diamonds.

How potent are THC diamonds?

Diamonds are considered one of the most potent cannabis concentrates testing in at just under 100% THC-A. That converts to roughly 87% THC when heated!! Their powerful effects make for a flavorful, and heady high that can linger for hours at a time.

How are THC-A diamonds made?

Diamonds are made with freshly harvested, flash-frozen cannabis, The reason for freezing the fresh plants is to help preserve the integrity of the cannabinoids, terpenes, and trichomes at their optimal picking time.

Like most extraction methods THC=A diamonds are formed using solvents, temperature, and pressure. First, the THC-A is extracted from the cannabis plant using a solvent and a cold-extraction method. From there, pressure at varying degrees is placed on the  oil through via a chromatography machine until the crystals form.

How to smoke THC diamonds

Just like any other concentrate, you’ll need to heat up diamonds before they will get you high. This can be achieved through a vaping device like a Yocan Evolve Plus, a nectar collector, or a dab rig.  You can even sprinkle some diamonds into a joint and smoke it. Like kief, it adds flavor and potency to any spliff!!

An important fact is to remember that THC-A diamonds are up to 4x stronger than a hit from a joint. GO SLOW!!

Why do we love diamonds?

It’s a simple answer, great taste and hard hitting. Diamonds that are produced from great biomass, and that are processed with love and care will consistently have intense flavor profiles that really capture the essence of the plant. In addition, they can contain the equivalent of 4 times the THC as a regular joint so it shouldn’t take as much in order for you to feel the effects.
